So today I went to see the Oncologist. She doesn't look a thing like Wilson.
Which is just as well, because in addition to the absolute indignity of having cancer, you have to get weighed right out there in the waiting room. In front of complete strangers. WTF? Like life isn't bad enough when you have breast cancer, you have to worry being fat? Honestly.
Anyway, she laid out the plan -- I start next week. Yes, I will lose my hair. Yes, I will go through menopause. Yes, I will probably get mouth ulcers. Yes, I will probably puke. Yes, I will be tired. Jeez.
Called a friend who's just lost her mother to liver cancer. Did. NOT. Make. Me. Feel. Better. Got knee deep into wallowing when another friend appeared at the door with dinner. Whereupon I burst into snotty tears.
Fuck. This is so hard.

let me know if you need an elixir mouthwash for the mouth sores. when i went thru chemo i got this great stuff, had lidocaine and some other stuff in it... except the pharmacist mislabeled the dosage and i wound up with numbness from the top of my head to my breastbone.... after that tho, the shit worked for easing the sensation in my mouth. oh... and i changed toothpaste as well. the only one i could use was Biotin (the original).... you wind up with sensitivities you never thought you'd have, but the Biotin and the mouth elixir worked wonders.
sweetie.. the hair loss, the mouth sores and the menopause are all things that can be remedied. dont fret about the small shit..... the fact is that what you will be going thru will kill the cancer... that's that good part.
how long a series will you be doing?
how dare they weigh you in public?! ugh. and dream woven is wise in ways i never will be.
ps: i am mostly over here now: princess_smartypants. because the formerprincess xanga is devoted to pimping my wildly successful (snort) apron business.
bald heads are FIERCE.
If upgrading to Internet 7 would help, I would recommend it.
Truth is, I haven't a clue.
Fucking cancer! I've been thinking of you a lot this week, including a dream at the airport hotel we all were staying in on the way home from our holiday.
I scheduled my first mammogram in honor of you.
